I recently purchased the 4 Day Money Making Blueprint(aka “Conversations With Travis”) and I have to say I am very impressed. If I was starting out and wanted to kickstart my Internet marketing career this is the first thing I would buy.
The 4 Day Money Making Blueprint is a four day 15 hour video training program that will teach you everything you need to get started in Internet marketing at no cost, with no website, no computer or programming knowledge and most importantly no risk. This course also includes an 80 page ebook “Conversations With Travis Sago – The Original Bum Marketer”.
For those unfamiliar with Travis Sago, he (or I should say his wife) came up with the term “Bum Marketing”, to describe article marketing, this no cost, no risk method of making money online. This program is fully endorsed by Travis Sago.
Whether you start full or part-time, the 4-Day Money Making Blueprint will show you how to “build a consistent, sustainable income online….without spending a dime of your own money.”
For new Internet marketers, or those who need some guidance (don’t we all?) this is the fastest and cheapest way to get started. For many struggling Internet marketers this course was their gateway to success. The training and the support you receive are worth many times the price. Personally I think that this course could sell for $100 and still be a bargain. For less than $30 and a 60 day money back guarantee, it is a steal.

Wordpress 2.8 – Nice Sleek Interface

I am a big fan of Wordpress. It is like my new toy! I like testing out new themes, installing and testing out the numerous plugins that make Wordpress such an SEO and user friendly application, and figuring out how to edit the php code to make modifications to the theme. The latter is still very much a work-in-progress!
When I first started playing with Wordpress last year, I think it was an early version of 2.6. It has gone through many modifications since then and I have to say that 2.8.4 the latest version has a very nice user interface and dashboard. Version 2.8 is much more intuitive, cleaner and easy to use than earlier versions and also allows you to search for new themes on Wordpress. org and install directly from the dashboard (Appearance–>Add New Themes). What a great feature and timesaver.
Recent versions of Wordpress also allow you to upgrade directly from the dashboard. If you do not have the current version you will be reminded when you login with the message:
“A new version of WordPress is available! Please update now.”
It is always recommend that you backup your database first and deactivate any active plugins, since the new version may not be compatible. This is particularly true if upgrading from a pre 2.7 version.
Since Wordpress has become such a popular web platform it is also a popular target for viruses and malignant software. The latest version of Wordpress, 2.8.4 is immune to the new Wordpress worm that has been circulating this week. So don’t forget to UPGRADE. It is so easy now that there are no excuses.
30 Day Challenge – Find Out What Ed and Dan Have Up Their Sleeves!

A little late here but, if you haven’t started The Thirty Day Challenge it is not too late to sign up and see what surprises Ed and Dan have in store this year.
For those new to The Thirty Day Challenge, Ed Dale and Dan Raine – two very successful Internet marketers – have been running it every August for the last few years.
“In a nutshell… The Thirty Day Challenge is about making your first $1 online. For a full 30 days we are going to be showing you exactly how to start your own Internet business and generate your first income online without spending a dime.
That’s right, this is going to cost zip, diddly, nothing, nada, ziltch. The entire training program is free, and you won’t have to spend a thing to get your business started and begin making money. No credit card required.”
I HIGHLY recommend it to all Internet marketers – new or old.
Ed Dale and company always introduce great new tools which you can use for free during The Thirty Day Challenge. Last year they introduced the Market Samurai keyword tool (which they are also focusing on this year) and two days ago they introduced Traffic Bug:
http://www.traffic-bug.com/30dc/
The best part is that you can try these tools out for free for 40 days when you sign up for The Thirty Day Challenge. Market Samurai is amazing, and they have just introduced some really cool new modules. I tried Traffic Bug this morning and my site has already been submitted to several directories.
If nothing else you can see what Ed Dale and company have up their sleeves!
The sign up link is: http://www.thirtydaychallenge.com
Although it started August 1st, it is not too late to catch up. Also all the video and .pdfs can be downloaded. They are even available on iTunes as podcasts.
And that Ed Dale is one funny guy!

Wordpress Ebay and Overstock Plugins

After spending days adding manual links to my affiliate niche store I knew there must be a better way. Using a datafeed seemed too complicated and the services that consolidated and simplified the datafeeds from several vendors were too pricey.
I had been playing around with the free phpBay Lite plugin in on another site I had setup and pretty much ignored. In a matter of seconds you can add a post to pull ebay listings on a specific keyword. Yes, seconds! I was busy working on my labour intensive site adding non-ebay affiliate links when I decided to login to my ebay account – just for the hell of it. So imaginge my surprise when I found out that I had actually made some sales! How? What? I don’t even know how buyers found my site, but sure enough – three sales. Not many I will admit, but for a site that I wasn’t trying to drive traffic to it was a VERY pleasant surprise! And all from one simple line of code. All I had to do was click on a button, add my keywords and the number of items I wanted to list and presto – a page of ebay listings for that product.
Well, if no work and a free plugin could generate three sales in a couple of weeks, what could the phpBay Pro version – with many more options – and actual article marketing and backlinking generate? I decided to find out. So yesterday I purchased phpBay Pro and installed it on my newly rediscovered site. Simple to use and a lot of great features including the ability to list products in columns, choose your country and even sort the products using various options.
I then discovered the phpOStock plugin which will pull products from Overstock.com – a site I had been manually adding affiliate links from. For $30 – which also includes 12 free Wordpress Commerce templates – I thought it was a great deal. So today I have also added this to my arsenal of affiliate tools.
So I am off to play with my new toys – I mean plugins. Let the fun begin!
The Juggling Act

About the same time I started looking into affiliate marketing I was also in the process of starting a home-based business. So, for the last year, as much as I wanted to spend more time on affiliate marketing I was not able to. Every day it felt like my “to do” list had 101 items on it.
Recently things have fallen into place. I am now in a position to temporarily relegate my other business to the back-burner and focus on this one. My kids are old enough that they do not demand my attention (only my money!) and the all the little pieces are starting to gel. As long as the glue holds, I should be fine!
So it is with most new Internet marketers – a constant juggling act. As motivated as they may be to succeed, the real life demands of their jobs and their families pull them in many different directions. Some get lost and never find their way back, some take a detour, while others stay on course.
What differentiates the people who succeed from those who fail? Perseverance. A firm believe that there is a better way, that they CAN do it, that they MUST do it and they WILL succeed. No doubt about it, the going is sometimes tough. It is easy to question and second guess yourself everyday, and we will all have good and bad days. What keeps us going is the small successes, the baby steps.
So here’s to small successes! May they soon turn to big successes and the achievement of your dreams.
Speaking of which… this is one of the most inspiring things I have seen or heard in a very long time. Gives me the shivers everytime I watch it.
So watch
be inspired
be amazed
and enjoy!

I am a big fan of Jennifer “Pot Pie Girl” Ledbetter , creator of the One Week Marketing Action Plan.
Why, because Jennifer’s “action plan” is a step-by-step guide to kick start your Internet marketing campaign. Each day there is a checklist of actions that you must complete in order to get your campaign up and running and generating sales in as little as one week. Does she guarantee that you will make sales in your first week? No, of course not. No one can guarantee you that. But she does show you the exact process that she uses, and learned the hard way, and which if followed will bring success.
Jennifer’s protege, Nick, went from making NO sales in one year to making three sales in one week following these exact same steps. In fact, Jennifer’s private messages to Nick, while coaching him through this week, are included as part of the One Week Marketing package. Intrigued? The first 18 pages of Jennifer’s book can be downloaded here for free!
The last ten years… and the next ten

Today is my son’s 18th birthday. Exactly ten years ago today, when he turned eight, I returned to school full-time to take a six month intensive Network Computing course.
Although we bought a Mac computer in 1987, it wasn’t until 1998 when we purchased our first PC that we got Internet at home. The Internet, though not new, was at the cusp of its phenomenal growth.
I remember the first time I heard about Google. It was in 1999, my first IT job, and one the the consultants I worked with told me I should try Google, it was the best search engine around. I tried it and never looked back. Little did I know then how much it would come to dominate our lives and the whole world.
It is impossible to imagine life without Internet. Want to know something? Research something? Buy something? Where do you look first? The Internet of course. Life is at our fingertips. I am still thrilled and fascinated at the amount of information that is available online – and most of it for free. The biggest draw back with Internet marketing, is definitely the infinite distractions. I remember the first time I discovered “Stumble Upon”. It was like a new toy! All these very cool sites that I would never have known about, or even thought to search for! Life is good!
Excuse my ramblings.
Today being the tenth anniversary of the start of my IT career leaves me to reflect on the last ten years and how drastically the world has changed.
What will the next ten years bring? I cannot wait to see. These are truly exciting times we live in!
Happy New Year

Happy New Year!
A new year always brings the promise of hope. Although that sounds glib and cliche, this year I really feel optimistic about the future, in spite of the daily gloom and doom economic forecasts. The opportunity to make money online has never been greater. Hard work and perseverance in Internet marketing will pay off.
As I posted on the Wealthy Affiliate forum:
“The only failure in life is failing to try. So work hard, play hard, and leave no regrets! …. If you are not successful right away, you will be, since “failure” is just a (learning) step on the path to success.”
The inauguration of Barack Obama on January 20th will be historic, momentous occasion, not just for the United States, but for the entire world. I can hardly contain my excitement. Barack Obama brings hope for a better world. A world where integrity counts more than the colour of your skin. No doubt about it, the expecations for him are tremendous and he may not be able to live up to them all, but change is happening and a wonderful, refreshing change it is.
Wishing you health, happiness and prosperity in 2009.
